Abstract

Communication and language are two important things that support social relation. Communication and language helps to spread knowledge and information among people. People has sharing and understanding of meaning of their idea in many ways. In today’s world, when people have spread far and wide and there are different language spoken in different regions. As we know English is one of language that become an international language with seventy perce nt of the world’s population speaking English as native, second or foreign language. In addition to its status as a mother tongue in many countries, global use of English is growing for communication in different context. That is why the translation is needed. Translation bridge the gap between situation where differences in verbal and non verbal behavior, expectation, knowledge and perspective. Translation is a way to give information or message from source languange into target language in written or spoken target language text. In education, translation has a big role. The increases of english textbook in education also affect the increases of translastaion need especially for some countries which not use english as majority language. In Indonesia, there are many education institution that used textbook, journal, or other sources that are written in English to support their teaching learning process. Animal Husbandry study program is one of department at Politeknik Negeri Jember which concerns with the study about animal husbandry which use English textbook as one of supporting media in their teaching learning process. When conducting the teaching and learning activities, the lecturers of Animal Husbandry Department ix commonly use English textbooks or e-book (electronic book) , regarded the most accurate media to get knowledge, practical and effective for the student. Howe ver, most of the students have difficulty in understanding the content of the textbooks or e-book. This project is translating a book entitled "Quality Assurances for Animal Feed Analysis Laboratories" on page 115 until 132 into Indonesian version. This project aims to help the students and the lecturer of Animal Husbandry Department at Politeknik Negeri Jember in order to understand the content of the book which is written in English. The writer used theory of translation process by Nida and Taber, they are analysis, transfer and restructuring. The writer also adopt the translation procedures that proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet is used to analyze the procedures of translation in translating the text. There are: borrowing, transposition, modulation, and adaptation. When all part of the book is completed, the product of final project will be available in printed version and PDF format.
