Abstract

Steam Power Plant of PT. POMI Unit 3 Paiton is power plant with capacity 1×815MW. The estimated total energy that produced is 6,425,460 MWH per year and its coal consumption is 3,06 million tons per year. This Power Plant requires a large amount of coal to produce a large amount of electricites, thus it is needed a way to optimize the performance of PT. POMI Steam Power Plant Unit 3. The optimization of the Power Plant performance can be done by modifying the Heat Exchanger Network (HEN) through the Pinch method or Pinch technology. Pinch analysis provides good opportunities in designing HEN or in evaluating a HEN system such as reducing the operation costs, simplifying the process, increasing efficiency, reducing and planning the capital investment. The research that has been done was able to increase the efficiency of Power Plant become 0,5%, which was initially from 28,45% to 28,95% and also it was able to reduce the used of fuel 1,71 kg/s, which was initially from 97,99 kg/s to 96,28 kg/s. It was also able to recontruct the structure of the Heat Exchanger Network of PT. POMI Steam Power Plant Unit 3 Paiton.
