Abstract

Demand of melon is increassing, but is has not been followed by adequate seed production, so seed production needs to be increased again. The availability of AB mixed fertilizer, which is one of the main fertilizers in the substrat culture system which is currently a rare commodity and a relatively expensive price, has caused seed companies and farmers in Indonesia to experience difficulties. This research was conducted in field PT. Benih Citra Asia farm Rowosari, Jember from August until December 2019. This study uses non-factorial RBD which consists of 4 factors, namely the dosage of NPK Pearl fertilizer 10 grams/plant (P₁), the dose of NPK Pearl fertilizer 20 grams/plant (P₂), the dose of Pearl NPK fertilizer 30 grams/plant (P₃), the dose NPK Mutiara fertilizer 40 grams/plant (P₄). The result of addition of NPK Mutiara fertilizer dosage which had an effective significant difference in the weight parameter of 1000 grains in addition to the dosage of NPK Mutiara 40 grams/plant (P₄) fertilizer with an average of 24.38 grams. Then give a significantly different effect on the parameters of the number of leaves in addition to the dosage of NPK Pearl fertilizer 30 grams/plant (P₃) with an average of 39.10 strands. However, the effect was not significantly different (ns) on the parameters of flowering age, number of fruit seeds, seed weight per fruit, and seed production per hectare (ha). To optimize the production of melon seeds, it is recommended to use an NPK fertilizer dosage of 30 grams/plant (P₃) because it produces an average seed production per hectare of 1938.73 kg.
