Abstract
Along with the increase in the population in Indonesia, the demand for sugar will continue to increase, but this increase cannot be matched by domestic sugar production due to the narrowing area of sugar cane cultivation. The aim of this research was to find out the effect of giving shallot and banana weevil extract on the initial growth of seedlings from VMC 86-550 sugarcane bud set. The research was conducted from October to February 2023 at the Jember State Polytechnic research area. which is located at Jl. Mastrip, Krajan Timur, Kec. Sumbersari, Jember Regency, East Java. The method used was a factorial randomized block design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is the shallot extract which consists of 3 levels which include P0 (control), P1 (100ml/L), P2 (200 ml/L). The second factor is the banana weevil extract which consists of 3 levels including A0 (control), A1 (375 ml/L), A2 (750 ml/L). The results showed that the administration of shallot and banana weevil extract had significantly different on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves and number of tillers.
