Abstract

The demand for animal protein from livestock was rising, and one of the most common sources was egg products. Feed is the most expensive component of laying hen production. Joyo Sedoyo Farm's livestock group is a laying hen-focused livestock group. During the production process, Joyo Sedoyo Farm's livestock group produces by-products in the form of waste (manure). Most of the manure produced is wasted in the environment so that it can pollute the environment. One of the efforts to overcome this waste is by processing manure as a medium for Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide insight and direct practice to the Joyo Sedoyo Farm farmer group regarding the use of waste as a medium for BSF cultivation, with the hope that BSF cultivation can reduce feed costs for laying hens. The method used is a descriptive method with 4 stages of activity, namely preparation, counseling and training, the process and stages of BSF larvae cultivation, as well as the stage of mentoring and evaluating activities. The results of the activities that have been carried out by most of the farmers understand the importance of BSF cultivation as feed. The results of BSF cultivation went well with the growth of BSF larvae, and the results of BSF provision in livestock rations could be given well seen from the small amount of feed remaining. The Joyo Sedoyo Farm Livestock Group felt the benefits of training and counseling on BSF Cultivation as seen from the results of the survey that had been conducted. The benefits of training and counseling on BSF cultivation at the Livestock Group of Joyo Sedoyo Farm were well received by farmers based on the results of BSF larvae breeding yields and the results of surveys to each farmer.
