Abstract
AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is a set of symptoms due to decreased immunity caused by HIV. The number of people with HIV/AIDS keeps increasing becoming a global pandemic in children and adult mortality. The highest mortality rate is found in Kencong, with the number of deaths keeps rising every year. The highest death number was in January-July 2019 at 55,88% deaths. This research aimed to analyze HIV/AIDS patients’ mortality risk factors at Kencong Public Health Center, based on HIV/AIDS patients’ medical record documents with 51 samples. The Chi-Square test was used in this study. This research was a case-control study. The results showed a correlation between the patients’ medication non-compliance and the HIV/AIDS patients’ mortality, with p=0,000 and risk of death at 15,682 times OR (Odds Ratio). There was a correlation between opportunistic infection and HIV/AIDS patients’ mortality, with p=0,004 and risk of death at 5,958 times OR. The variables of age, sex and education did not correlate with HIV/AIDS patients’ mortality. Kencong Health Center is recommended to promote and educate the public regarding HIV/AIDS occurrence, how to overcome them, and the mortality risk factors, especially about medication non-compliance and opportunistic infection.
