Abstract

The problems in production of red onion are scarce availability of quality seed and expensive. The farmers commonly prefer use onion tuber than seed as planting material, one of ways to thrift the usage of tuber is by tuber cutting. This research aims to determine the effect of tuber cutting on production of seed growth of 2 red onion varieties. This research was applied Split Plot Design with 2 factors and 4 replications. The main plot was varieties consisted 2 levels, Batu Ijo Varieties (V1) and Trisula Varieties (V2). The subplot was tuber cut consisted 4 levels, no tuber cut (P0), cutting 2 parts (P1), cutting 3 parts (P2) and cutting 4 parts (P3). The data was analyzed by f Test (ANOVA) and followed by BNT and DMRT 5%. The result of this research shows that treatment of V1 is significant effect on height of plant in 42 days after planting with value of 20,25 cm. P3 is signifcant effect on number of leaves in 42 days after planting of 22,15 strands, fresh weight per clump of 61,70 grams, dry weight per clump of 46,27 grams and production per hectare of 12,3 tons/ha. The interaction between Batu Ijo Varieties and without any tuber cutting is significant effect on number of leaves in 14 days after planting of 10,9 strands. Trisula Varieties without any tuber cutting is significant effect on number of tuber per clump of 7,2 tubers.
