Abstract

Delay in returning medical records is one of the things that can affect the quality of medical record services and have an impact on the continuity of the hospital. This study aims to determine the factors causing the late return of inpatient medical records at the hospital based on Lawrence Green Theory which consists of: predisposing, enabling and reinforcing factors. A total of 22 articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the study show that predisposing factors include: knowledge, attitude, discipline, lack of training, level of education; Enabling factors include: the absence of special officers, the long distance between the inpatient room and the medical record installation, and the not yet optimal utilization of facilities and infrastructure; reinforcing factors include: the absence of rewards and punishments, and the lack of dissemination of SOPs to officers. Efforts that can be made are increasing knowledge, level of discipline and holding training and seminars to make officers understand more about the importance of returning medical records before 2 times 24 hours, bearing in mind that not all officers have a medical record background and need socialization of the SOP for returning inpatient medical records on a regular basis because along with the development of knowledge and guidance information on quality services is needed.
