Abstract

The production of eggs in Indonesia only meets the needs of the domestic market by 65% while the rest is supplied from chicken eggs, duck and quail. The production of eggs in Jember is still relatively small compared with other regions in East Java. One of effort to increase the production capacity of the farm of chicken laying in Indonesia, especially in Jember is to improve human resources through the role, innovation and performance extension in increasing production and empowerment of laying chicken breeders. The purpose of this study to analyze the effect of the role, performance and innovation extension towards the empowerment of laying chicken breeders and to analyze the role and influence of innovation on the performance extension agent in Jember. The results of this study indicate that the role, performance and innovation influential extension agent directly and exhibited significantly to the empowerment of laying chicken breeders in Jember. Roles and innovation extension also affects the performance of extension agent in the field. The conclusion of this study is the extension innovation is higher influence than with the role and performance of the extension agent in empowering laying chicken breeders.
