Abstract

The production of ratoon is still lower than the parent plant. Therefore, the alternative solution is needed to increase ratoon production. One of the cultivation methods that can be applied is fertilization. The type of fertilizer that plays a very important role is nitrogen. Nitrogen absorbed by ratoon can stimulate tillers formation. The increasing of the number of tillers is expected to increase ratoon productivity. The purpose of this study was to increase the number of tillers and production through the application of nitrogen fertilizers from two different sources. This research was conducted for 3 months starting from May to July 2020. The experimental design was arranged in completely randomized split plot design consisting of 2 factors and 6 replication. The first factor was the type of fertilizer as the main plot and the second factor was the timing of application as subplot. The results showed that the use of urea fertilizer gave the best effect on the number of tillers and the number of leaves, while ZA fertilizer gave the best effect on plant height, panicle length, number of grain per panicle, number of pithy grain per panicle. Sulphur content on ZA fertilizer has a role to trigger cell and tillers formation.
