Abstract

One of the food ingredients from livestock that have high nutritional value and the most sought after by the community compared to other poultry eggs is egg laying hens. UD Legi Jaya is a farm that produces chicken eggs in Jember. In the process of production of egg laying hens, UD Jaya Legi faces some problems such as cracked eggs, white eggshell, and mottled skin. This study aims 1) To determine the control of the quality of the egg laying hens conducted by UD legi Jaya . 2) To determine the value of DPMO (Defect Per Million Opportunities) and chicken egg product sigma level races at UD Legi Jaya. 3) To find out what are the factors that cause product incompatibility with established standards thus the plans can be determined to improve the quality of eggs. The data processing and analysis method used is the six sigma method. Six sigma is one tool to control quality by reducing the level of product mismatch through 5 stages (DMAIC), Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control. The results showed that the discrepancy in the production process was still within the control limits and the DPMO value generated was 15,040 with a sigma level of 3,67 sigma. This means that in one million units of the process produced there is a possibility of product discrepancy of 15,040 units / process. Several factors that cause product mismatches are human, material, equipment, and the environment.
