Abstract

English is one of language that used by many people in the world. Because of that, English has an important part in any aspect such as industry and education. In education, it is important to have skill in English to help them in learning process. Commonly, in the education the student can get the information and knowledge from journals, e-books, and other books. Most of these books are written in English version. Unfortunately, not all student have a good skill in understanding an English version. The students have to expert English language to help them understand the material of book. One of institution is an academic book entitled “Introduction to Algorithms” for Information Technology Department in Politeknik Negeri Jember used a book that are written in english as their learning process. Based on the situation above, the writer offered translated the book into Bahasa Indonesia. The result of this final project will help the students and lecturer in understanding this book easily and it will be useful for them especially in their teaching learning activity. In doing the translation, the writer used the translation process by Budianto and Fardhani (2010) that include analysis, transferring and revising. Moreover, this book was informative text but some of part inside the book used the expressive language to deliver the main idea, so the writer applied procedure of Vinay and Darbelnet (1995) but the writer only used four that include borrowing, calque, literal transposition and adaptation. This final project purposed to translate a book entitled Introduction to Algorithms in Chapter Two Page 177-193 for Students of Information ix Technology Department in Politeknik of Jember. This project finished by the teamwork, so that the writer only focus on Page 177 until 193. The result of this final project will help the students and lecturer in understanding this book easily and it will be useful for them especially in their teaching learning activity. After the result of translation was finished, the writer revised it to the supervisor and IT lecturer. In finishing the translation result, the writer got problems such as misstyping, spacing, punctuations, and grammatical erors in the text. After the writer did all of those phases, the text is available in printed and non-printed PDF format text and shared to the Information Technology Department. The writer had some suggestions for the students and lecturer of Information Technology Department, for the students of English Study Program, also for the English Study Program itself in finishing this final project. For the students and lecturer of Information Technology Department was recommend to use in learning and teaching. For the students of English Study Program was suggested to use as the reference for the students of English Study Program when they want to make the similar final project in translation field. And for the English Study Program itself, please provide some material about several texts of several certain fields in translating teaching learning process.
