Abstract
The chlorophyll content of leaves is very influential on plant photosynthesis. The aim was to analyze the chlorophyll content in various types of leaves, namely dieffenbachia sp, codiaeum variegatum, colocasia esculenta (under the shade), colocasia esculenta (not shaded), theobroma cocao, and carica papaya. The method of using 2 g of leaf samples was crushed and 80% acetone added. 5 ml of chlorophyll extract was diluted and transferred to a new 50 ml measuring flask and added 80% acetone until the volume reached 50 ml. The absorbance uses a spectrophotometer with wavelengths of 645, 652 and 663 nm. The results showed total chlorophyll Theobroma cocao 0.0136 gL-1, Codiaeum variegatum at 0.0098 g L-1, Dieffenbachia sp 0.0096 gL-1, then Colocasia esculenta (under the shade) of 0.0079 gL-1, then Colocasia esculenta (no shade), that is 0.0075 gL-1, and the smallest in Carica papaya leaves is 0.0046 gL-1. The highest total chlorophyll fresh leaf weight in Theobroma cocao was 0.68 mg chlorophyll / g fresh leaf weight, and the lowest was in Carica papaya which was 0.23 mg chlorophyll / g fresh leaf weight.
