Abstract

Stunting is one of the chronic malnutrition that is caused by the lack of nutritional intake for a long time. Stunting in children under five years old can occur since fetus but it can be seen when the child is two years old. The factors that can influence the incidence of stunting are the mother’s age during pregnancy and the history exclusive breastfeeding for toddlers. The purposes of this research were to analyze the relationship between mother’s age during pregnancy and history of the exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting in children under five years old, and also the relationship between mother’s age during pregnancy with the history of exclusive breastfeeding in Rowosari Village. The type of this research was analytical survei with case control design. The population of this research were all mothers who had stunted children under five years old in Rowosari Village, Jember. Collecting data used community health center data, questionnaires to know the level of mother’s knowledge, interview guideline, and the measurement of weight and height of children under five years old. Statistical analysis using SPSS 25.0 with Chi-square correlation test. The result showed were there was no relationship between mother’s age during pregnancy and the incidence of stinting in children under five years old (p-value = 0.156), there was no relationship between the history of exclusive breastfeeding with the incidence of stunting (p-value = 0.110), and there was no relationship between mother’s age during pregnancy with the history of exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.819) in Rowosari Village, Jember.
