Abstract

Cercospora arachidicola is a pathogen which causes leaf spot disease in peanut plants. The attack of leaf spot disease on peanut plants can significantly reduce the yields because the pathogen attacks during the process of filling pods. The use of synthetic pesticides in controlling plant diseases cause residual effect that endanger the environment. To reduce these negative impacts, it is necessary to protect plants with the use of phyto-pesticide. This study aims to determine the efficacy of basil leaf extract againts leaf spot disease (Cercospora arachidicola) in peanut. This research was carried out from November 2017 to February 2018, at the research area Baratan Village, Patrang District, Jember and Jember Polytechnic plant protection laboratory. This study used a non factorial randomized block design (RBD) method, in which there were 5 treatments, which consisted of control with synthetic fungicide 1 ml / L (P0), 25% basil leaf extract (P1), 50% basil leaf extract (P2), 75% basil leaf extract (P3), and 100% basil leaf extract (P4). The result showed that the efficacy of basil leaf extract againts leaf spot disease (Cercospora arachidicola) in peanut was not significantly different on the parameters of attack intensity, number of pods, wet weight of pods, and dry weight of peanut pods. The correlation test results showed an increased attack of leaf spot disease reducing the number of pods, wet weight of pods and dry weight of peanut pods.
