Abstract

Sc Ahmad Febri Mulyono Study Progam of Seed Production Technique Department of Agicultural Production Progam Studi Teknik Produksi Benih Jurusan Produksi Pertanian ABSTRACT Melon needs are very high but not supported by existing seed production so that efforts are needed to increase melon seed production to meet these needs. One of the efforts in increasing melon seed production is the flowering age and the number of male flowers, increasing the quality of male flower age to be used in the pollination process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of gibberellin hormon and foliar fertilizer MKP on the quantity and quality of flower of male plants. This study was conducted in October 2021-January 2022 in the geenhouse land of PT. BCA, located in Rowosari Village, Sumberjambe District, Jember Regency. The design used is factorial randomized block design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is the dose of gibberellic acid consists of 4 levels, namely G0 (control), G1 (25 mg/l), G2 (35mg/l) and G3 (45 mg/l). The second factor is the concentration of MKP foliar fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely M0 (control), M1 (3 g/l), M2 (5 g/l) and M3 (7 g/l). The Data were analyzed using ANOVA test and followed by HSD test (Turkeys Honetsly Significant Difference test) with 5% error level. The results showed that the gibberellic acid gave significant effects on the the number of male flowers. The best treatment was G3 (45 mg/l) resulted in 46.64 of male flowers. The concentration of MKP, as well as the interaction between the two factors, however, did not show any significant difference in all parameters.
