Abstract
Coffee is a plant that is cultivated in various countries such as Latin America, Central America, Asia Pacific, and Africa which became the first center of coffee cultivation. Indonesia occupies the 4th position of the 5 major coffee-producing countries in the world, Coffee plants are a high foreign exchange earner in the Indonesian economy. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that Indonesia's coffee production in 2021 was the highest in the last decade reaching 774.6 tons. This number increased by 2.75% from the previous year of 753.9 thousand tons. Indonesia has 3 types of coffee that are cultivated, namely Robusta, Arabica, and Liberica. The type of robusta coffee is mostly cultivated by people's plantations and the state. Robusta coffee cultivation often has problems with generative propagation, namely the toughness of the robusta coffee bean skin, resulting in slow seed germination. The coffee seed germination process takes a long time due to seed dormancy. The growth of coffee is done to accelerate it can be given a growth regulator. The most important generative nursery process is the planting medium that will be used. A good planting medium is likely to produce quality coffee seeds because in a good media there are nutrients needed by plants. The research was conducted at the Wire House Soil Laboratory of the Jember State Polytechnic in February-May 2022. The data were analyzed using factorial RAK with a 5% BNJ follow-up test. The results showed that the combination of planting media and concentration of natural ZPT had a significant effect on the generative growth of robusta coffee (Coffea canephora L) including the percentage of germination, root length, height, and diameter of seedlings.
