Abstract

In Jember Regency, corn is the second alternative crop after rice and tobacco. With relatively stable selling prices in recent years, Paluombo farmers decided to plant corn on the sidelines of planting rice crops. However, because Paluombo farmers do not understand about the diseases that exist in corn plants, the authors decided to create an expert system for detecting corn plant diseases using the certainty factor method to meet the needs of Paluombo farmers. This method is considered suitable for use in this study because farmers understand the system more easily, by only focusing on sentences that have been provided by experts, and the user only selects a few symptoms that occur in corn plants, such as filling out questionnaires. The first step is the system will calculate the MB and MD values that have been previously determined by the expert, from the symptoms selected by the user. The existing MB and MD values will be calculated by the system and compared with statements from experts. With this research that has been made, the accuracy of the system and expert statements is 100% accurate. Keywords : Expert System, Corn Plant Disease, Certainty Factor Method
