Abstract

EFFECT OF THE PLANTING MEDIA COMPOTITION AND NATURAL GROWTH REGULATORS ( COCONUT WATER & MORINGA LEAF EXTRACT) ON THE VEGETATIVE GROWTH OF VANILLA PLANTS (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) Supervised by Setyo Andi Nugroho, S.Pd., M.Si. Lenitia Hartati Cultivation of Crops Plantation Agricultural Production ABSTRACT Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) is a plant in the Orchidaceae family. The plants originating from Mexico and than entering to Indonesia since 1819. Indonesian vanilla production has increased from 1986 to 2011. Vanilla production has decreased due to poor cultivation techniques, poor growth less than optimal on vanilla vegetative growth such as roots, stems, leaves that are slow or the treatment of poor growth quality and hormone or in terms of growing media. This experiment to determine effect of the compotition planting media and natural growth regulators (coconut water & moringa leaf extract) on the vegetative growth of vanilla plants. The research was carried out at the Polytechnic of Jember wire house from January to May 2022. Primary and secondary data were analyzed using Factorial RBD ( Randomized Block Design) with HSD 5% ( Honesly Significant Differentce) test. The result showed that the treatment of natural growth regulators concentration had a significant effect on percentage of vanilla survival cutting age 12 to 16 weeks. Natural growth regulators factor 15% concentration of moringa leaf extract had an allelopathic effect that cause death which was significantly on the percentage of vanilla cutting survival. Meanwhile other parameters such as number leaves shoot length shoot diameters, main root length and main root number of vanilla cuttings had non significant. Keywords: Vanilla, Planting Media Composition, Natural Growth Regulators.
