Abstract

Coffee is a superior commodity in the agricultural sector in Indonesia, this is an advantage of the potential and natural wealth that exists in Indonesia. Cultivation of coffee plants is one of the efforts to utilize that natural resources. The initial stage of coffee cultivation activities is seeding. Seed growth is the main factor to get good plants in the field. One of the factors that determine the growth of seedlings is the nursery media. This study aims to determine the effect of vermicompost nursery media on the growth of legit robusta coffee seedlings (BP 42 x BP 358). This research was carried out from December 2021 to May 2022 in Tegal Gede Village, Sumbersari District, Jember and the Jember State Polytechnic soil laboratory. This study used a non-factorial randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications using a ratio of top soil: sand : manure : vermicompost (V1 2 : 1 : 0 : 0, V2 2 : 1 : 1 : 0, V3 2 : 1 : 0 : 1, V4 2 : 1 : 0 : 2, V5 1 : 0 : 0 : 1). Further testing using orthogonal contrast test. The results of this study showed that the use of vermicompost had a very significant difference in the increase in seedling height, the increase in the number of leaves and the growth in the number of roots.
