Abstract

Livestock is one sector that has a great opportunity to be developed as a business in the future. The livestock most often done by the people of Indonesia is raising cattle. The high demand for livestock products and the low birth rate in cattle make artificial insemination (AI) very necessary. The importance of AI in the field of animal husbandry is the reason that students as prospective livestock practitioners must master and have good skills in carrying out the AI process. This study aims to develop a new learning method regarding artificial insemination in cows based on virtual reality which will certainly make the learning process more interesting, fun and eliminate the risk of disability in cows when learning AI practices. In this learning module, several stages are implemented that must be carried out by the user in a coherent manner starting from the thawing stage (frozen semen thawing), inserting a straw into the IB gun, cleaning the rectum, holding the cervix to injecting frozen semen into the uterus. As for the process of assessing the success of artificial insemination (AI) cattle, it is determined by how long it takes the user to be able to complete the artificial insemination stages correctly.
