Abstract
Translating an E-book entitled “Seeds, Physiology of Development, Germination and Dormancy, Third Edition” By J. Derek Bewley, Kent J. Braford, Henk W.M. Hilhorst, and Hiro Nonogaki on Page 341-374, Karina Widyanata, F31170728, 2020, 24, Language, Communication and Tourism Department, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Adriadi Novawan, S. Pd., M. Ed. (Supervisor)Nowadays, translation is becoming more popular from time to time. The need for translation products is increasing. Especially in Indonesia that needs translation product for seeking information from all around the world. Why translation products become an important thing in Indonesia? Because the translation product aims to help to spread many kinds of information from all over the world especially in the field of science and technology and education to develop the quality of human resources in Indonesia. The increasing need for translation books give a big influence on the education field in Indonesia, which uses practical knowledge as a way of implementing and learning processes.The writer conducted a preliminary study in form of an interview to the lecturer of Seed Production Technique Study Program who usually uses English books in the process of teaching and learning activity. After that, the writer distributed the questioner to the students of Seed Production Technique Study Program, we can understand that most students are difficult to catch the meaning of the whole e-book. So, the writer offers to translate one of the e-books from Seed Production Technique Study Program into the Indonesian version. And the title of the e-book will be translated is Seeds, Physiology of Development, Germination, and Dormancy.Translation can be defined as a process of transferring meaning from source language to habit language without changing the language style of the source language. To perform this translation project the writer needs to determine the process of translation that the writer will be used. There are also several types of translations such as, literal translation, adaptation translation, free translation, etc.This product of the final project is the translation result of the reference book for the teaching and learning process activity from The Agriculture Production Department, Seed Production and Technique Study Program in Indonesian version. In this final project only focus on translating of the eighth chapter of the e-book on page 341-374. The translation result of that e-book will be available in the form of hardcopy and softcopy.
